What’s new
Campfire for Samsung Galaxy XR (Coming soon to Google Play)
Campfire is now available for Samsung Galaxy XR, the first Android XR device. A single controller is required to use Campfire with the Galaxy XR headset. Download the Campfire app from the Google Play Store to get started.
Apply materials in bulk (PC, Mac, and iPad)
You can now use copy-and-paste to apply materials, letting you make changes to multiple parts at once. Simply right-click on any material in the inspector and copy it, then you’ll be able to paste that material to any selection in the scene or hierarchy — whether that’s one part, a group of multi-selected parts or models, or even a selection set.
Adding Models (All Devices)
- If models require external texture files, the external files must be stored locally; they cannot be links to cloud services
- Some FBX models may cause excessive scene loading times; for faster loading, re-import the model as GLB
In-Room Collaboration (Quest Preview)
- Turn off in-room collaboration if you’re not in the same room with other participants
- If you don’t see a shared project after a few seconds, you might need to clear the boundary and create a new room scale boundary.
- Room-scale content may make the real world and other users impossible to see; take care not to bump into physical objects, walls, or people
Sharing (Quest)
- Campfire links do not open the Quest app; open projects directly from within the Campfire app
Measure (All Devices)
- Point-to-point measurements can only be made between points on model surfaces; to measure the distance between a model and an arbitrary point in space or on the ground, add a model with a surface at the point in space or on the ground you want to measure to or from
Measure (iPad)
- Cannot resolve or copy a link to measurement annotations in AR mode
Annotations(iPad)
- Pressing Enter on the iPad keyboard adds a new line to the comment. To finish the comment, tap anywhere in the scene or dismiss the keyboard
Multi-file Upload (All Devices)
- When uploading an assembly file that refers to multiple part files, please make sure that all part files are in the same folder; Campfire does not support assemblies in sub-folders
Multi-file Upload (PC, Mac)
- All files in the folder will be uploaded, regardless of whether they are relevant to the model or not; please make sure that only the required part files are in the folder
Multi-file Upload (Mac)
- The shift key state is sometimes stuck even after the upload is complete, which prevents you from rotating the scene view; restart the app
Quest Link (Quest)
- Quest 3S controller will appear as a Quest 2 controller to other users

August 2025
What’s new
Scene Anchors (PC, Mac, iPad, Quest; Available with an Enterprise plan)
Align your Campfire scenes with the real world. You can use scene anchors in two ways: to align virtual models on physical objects, like displaying a dashboard on a buck, or to anchor everyone’s view to the same spot for in-room collaboration within a shared space. Just add an anchor to your scene on PC or Mac, then print and place the marker in your physical environment. When you open Campfire on a headset or iPad and scan the marker, Campfire will automatically position your scene content around it. Easy as that!
Threads and @ Mentions (All Devices)
Keep your conversations organized with threaded replies and @ mentions. You can now reply directly to any annotation and tag other users in comments or replies.
Isolate (PC, Mac)
Right-click on any part or model and select Isolate to instantly hide everything else in the scene, so you can focus on a specific item.
Hand Visibility (Quest 3, 3S)
Now you can see your hands when using Campfire on Quest 3 and 3S. Hand visibility is turned on by default, making it even easier and more natural to interact in XR.

May 2025
What’s new
Lock Models (All Devices)
You can now lock models to prevent accidental or unauthorized changes. When a model is locked, it can’t be selected, deleted, or transformed — which means no changing materials, adjusting its position, or using the grab, explode, or slice tools. Only users with editor permissions can unlock a model, keeping your scenes safe and exactly as you want them.
Export and Import Projects (PC, Mac)
Need to save space, transfer projects between accounts, or back up key work? Enterprise users can now export and import Campfire projects. Exported projects are downloaded to your local device as a .camp file that includes all the scenes, content, and annotations for that project. Once exported, you’re able import a project back into Campfire anytime. Available with an Enterprise plan.
Azure Hybrid Cloud (All Devices)
Campfire’s hybrid cloud option is now available for Microsoft Azure, in addition to AWS. Hybrid cloud lets you collaborate in Campfire while managing your proprietary data in your own AWS or Azure account — giving you an extra layer of control that helps you meet rigorous requirements for security, compliance, and data residency. Available with a Custom plan.
Single Sign-On (All Devices)
Campfire now supports Single Sign-On (SSO) for customers with hybrid cloud, so teams can log in using company credentials instead of managing another password. With centralized login and better access control, SSO makes it simpler to help your team stay secure. Available with a Custom plan.

March 2024
What’s new
In-Room Collaboration (Quest Preview)
Now multiple Quest users can work on the same project in the same room. Powered by Meta Shared Spatial Anchors, in-room collaboration works seamlessly. To join a project, stand near a colleague and look where they do. You'll be prompted to join if the project has been shared with you.
Point-to-Point Measurement (All devices)
You can now make point-to-point measurements with the measure tool. Just point at the locations you want to measure between, and the distance between them appears on a connecting line. Measurements update automatically, so it's easy to evaluate gaps while grabbing and moving parts. And because measurements are annotations, you can share them with links as with text and sketches.
Precision Slice (Mac, PC, iPad)
We brought the slice tool to the desktop, so you can create precise cross sections when creating scenes and then move them freely on Quest. On the desktop, you can lock a cutting plane to a particular axis and use the inspector to control position and rotation on all axes. The slice plane also now appears in the hierarchy, allowing a presenter to hide or show it.
Enhanced VR Experience (Quest)
We've enhanced the visual experience in VR to make it easier to orient yourself relative to the ground and other users.
Easier Access to Materials (All devices)
A new section has been added to materials tab in the inspector to make it easier to access general purpose materials.
Project List Updates (All devices)
All apps now use the tiled project list introduced in the Quest app. Project tiles now include a thumbnail for the first scene, icons for users in the project, and an indicator for whether a project is open nearby (Quest).
Adding Models (Mac, PC, iPad)
- Importing multiple large models simultaneously into different scenes may fail with an error notification; re-import failed models one at a time

Version 0.10.10
What’s new
Quest
Campfire is now available in the Meta Store for Quest 3, Quest Pro, and Quest 2. Quest 3’s full color passthrough makes collaboration more natural than ever. We’re also introducing a new tutorial led by Spark, a virtual trainer who explains how to use Campfire tools with a little AI flair. The Quest app also brings the scene list, hierarchy, and inspector into your space to make it easy to present and make quick scene edits along the way.
Voice Chat
Campfire continues to work seamlessly alongside Zoom and Teams meetings, but now you can chat directly in Campfire with the click of a button.
Model Library
For enterprise accounts, we’re introducing the library to make it easy to share models between projects and scenes. Add models to the library and use them in any scene or project.
Measure Tool
Quickly measure parts or models by selecting them with the measuring tool. A bounding volume will show measurements on each axis.
Model Optimization
For enterprise accounts, you can turn on model optimization to automatically reduce complexity of large models for use on iPad and Quest.
Enterprise Admin
For enterprise accounts, admin users can now manage users from a web browser.
- Sample projects will take up to 5 minutes to appear in a newly created account
- Occasionally, enterprise users may encounter a texture mismatch when viewing optimized models on Quest or iPad. This may happen on models with sub-meshes. You can toggle compatibility with Quest or iPad OFF, although performance on these devices may not be optimal.
- Editing a comment on Quest will erase all the text instead of starting at the end of the text block.
- Measure tool does not work with animated models on Quest devices
- Occasionally, the project share screen, will not show all the users the project is currently shared with.
- Quest and iPad users may experience disruptions in voice chat if the device are left idle. To resume voice chat, simply leave the project and start it again
