What’s new

Add 360 photos as scene backgrounds (All devices)

You can now add 360 photos to Campfire! This lets you easily customize the background of any scene, so you can view models in specific environments or perform virtual walkthroughs and tours. To set a 360 photo as a scene background, use your desktop app and add the file as a JPEG, PNG, HDRI, or HDRIMAP file — then you’re all set to review and collaborate across desktop, Quest, and iPad.

Introducing: the annotation list (PC, Mac, iPad)

All the annotations within a scene are now organized for you into a single list, making your collaboration workflows even faster and simpler. You can easily filter the list by type (comment, sketch, measurement) or status (open or resolved) — or export your annotation data as a CSV to use as you please.

Context menus (PC, Mac)

Now when you right-click in Campfire, you’ll get a context menu with all the actions you can take — which means powerful features are always right at your fingertips, just a quick click away.

Support for the latest file formats (All devices)

Supported file formats have been updated to include 2024 versions of SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, and others. That means no need to save files as older versions. Just drop in your latest CAD and cut straight to the collaboration!

Duplicate projects (All devices)

You can now duplicate an entire project to quickly create multiple variations from the same base content.

What’s new

Share with users in trusted domains (All devices)

You can now configure your organization’s account so that users can safely share only with groups of users in a list of trusted domains. Trusted domains and sharing permissions for individual users can be changed or revoked at any time.

Render high-fidelity models with Quest Link (PC)

With Quest Link, you can connect your Quest 3 device to a compatible PC via a USB-C cable and render directly from the PC. This lets you view your models as-is without needing to first decimate them for the Quest.

Freely grab and view any part or model (Quest)

You’ll now be able to grab and rotate a model on any axis, no matter what tool is selected. Simply move the controller close to a part and use the grip button on the side to grab the part.

Grab parts and models (PC, Mac, iPad)

On the desktop and iPad apps, you can now use the Grab tool to easily move parts and snap them back into place.

Compose scenes on Quest

You can now create projects, add models, and compose scenes directly from the Quest, making it convenient to create immersive experiences.

What’s new

Role-based permissions for sharing (All devices)

When sharing a project with another user, you’ll now assign a permission role: viewer, commenter, or editor. Roles can be changed at any time. Any guest users within Enterprise accounts can only be assigned the viewer role.

More flexible sharing for Enterprise accounts (All devices)

You’ll now invite users directly to the projects you want to share, allowing you to assign them a permission role. With an expanded admin portal, the primary admin can now add viewer-only guest users to an Enterprise account. Guest users must be added to the admin portal before projects can be shared with them, and will not have access to presenter mode.

Projects organized into tabs (All devices)

Your project list is now automatically separated for you into three sections: My projects, Shared with me, and Learn.

Double-sided rendering (All devices)

You can now enable rendering of double-sided materials. To turn on double-sided rendering, simply toggle the option within material properties.

Ambient occlusion (PC and Mac)

On the desktop apps, ambient occlusion has been added to improve the look of certain models.

What’s new

In-Room Collaboration (Quest Preview) Now multiple Quest users can work on the same project in the same room. Powered by Meta Shared Spatial Anchors, in-room collaboration works seamlessly. To join a project, stand near a colleague and look where they do. You'll be prompted to join if the project has been shared with you.

Point-to-Point Measurement (All devices) You can now make point-to-point measurements with the measure tool. Just point at the locations you want to measure between, and the distance between them appears on a connecting line. Measurements update automatically, so it's easy to evaluate gaps while grabbing and moving parts. And because measurements are annotations, you can share them with links as with text and sketches.

Precision Slice (Mac, PC, iPad) We brought the slice tool to the desktop, so you can create precise cross sections when creating scenes and then move them freely on Quest. On the desktop, you can lock a cutting plane to a particular axis and use the inspector to control position and rotation on all axes. The slice plane also now appears in the hierarchy, allowing a presenter to hide or show it.

Enhanced VR Experience (Quest) We've enhanced the visual experience in VR to make it easier to orient yourself relative to the ground and other users.

Easier Access to Materials (All devices) A new section has been added to materials tab in the inspector to make it easier to access general purpose materials.

Project List Updates (All devices) All apps now use the tiled project list introduced in the Quest app. Project tiles now include a thumbnail for the first scene, icons for users in the project, and an indicator for whether a project is open nearby (Quest).

Version 0.10.10

What’s new

Quest

Campfire is now available in the Meta Store for Quest 3, Quest Pro, and Quest 2. Quest 3’s full color passthrough makes collaboration more natural than ever. We’re also introducing a new tutorial led by Spark, a virtual trainer who explains how to use Campfire tools with a little AI flair. The Quest app also brings the scene list, hierarchy, and inspector into your space to make it easy to present and make quick scene edits along the way.

Voice Chat

Campfire continues to work seamlessly alongside Zoom and Teams meetings, but now you can chat directly in Campfire with the click of a button.

Model Library

For enterprise accounts, we’re introducing the library to make it easy to share models between projects and scenes. Add models to the library and use them in any scene or project.

Measure Tool

Quickly measure parts or models by selecting them with the measuring tool. A bounding volume will show measurements on each axis.

Model Optimization

For enterprise accounts, you can turn on model optimization to automatically reduce complexity of large models for use on iPad and Quest.

Enterprise Admin

For enterprise accounts, admin users can now manage users from a web browser.
