Applying Materials
Learn the basics of working with materials.
Campfire provides a wide selection of high-quality materials to customize your model. Materials can be applied to specific parts, as well as groups of parts. You have the flexibility to adjust the appearance of a part by tweaking individual parameters for each material. You can also easily apply textures in JPG and PNG formats to a material.
Let’s start with the basics. We’ll first learn how to apply a material to a part, view the properties of the applied material, and then apply the same material to a variety of parts.
Applying a material to a part
- In the inspector, select
Materialstab - Expand one of the categories to see the materials
- Drag a material onto a part to apply it
Viewing material properties
- Toggle the
selection modetoPart - Click on a part on the model to select it
- From the inspector
Scenetab, selectLook - You can click on the sphere representing the material to edit material properties
Applying a material from another part
- Select the part with the material you want to apply to others
- You’ll now see the material appear in the
Looksection of theScenetab - Drag the material from the
Looksection onto another part
Applying materials in bulk
On PC, Mac, or iPad, you can use copy and paste to apply a material to multiple parts at once.
- In the inspector, right-click any material and select
Copy Material. - Select one or more parts in the scene or hierarchy. This can include a single part, multiple parts, or a selection set.
- Right-click and select
Paste Materialto apply the copied material to your selection.
