Run a Campfire Demo
Planning to share Campfire with your team? This guide walks through our go-to setup for running a great demo — the same one we use for trade shows and customer meetings.
What this guide covers
This isn’t a general tutorial. It’s designed for someone who’s already familiar with Campfire and wants to share it with others.
We’ll walk you through:
- Recommended device setup
- Recommended host roles
- Demo flow and key features
- Demo tips
If you’re looking to learn the basics, check out our Getting Started Guides: Compose Scenes, Communicate and Collaborate, and Collaborate on Meta Quest.

Recommended device setup
We recommend using 3 devices, each signed in with a different Campfire user account:
1. PC/Mac + large screen
This computer should be connected to a TV or projector to present to others in the room. If you're using Zoom or Teams, join from this computer and share the Campfire app window.
2. Quest (or Quest + PCVR)
Use a headset to show the immersive experience. If your models are large or complex, you may want to use Quest tethered via Campfire PCVR. (VIVE or Varjo headsets can also be used.)
3. iPad (or second laptop)
If you don’t have an iPad, a second PC or Mac works too. The third user is important for showing what collaboration looks like with multiple people on multiple devices.
Recommended host roles
1. Main Presenter
Uses the PC/Mac connected to the TV or screen. If you only have two hosts, this person may also manage an iPad or second desktop device.
2. Headset User
Should be in the headset for the full demo, actively moving so their head movement is visible to the room. They can also assist others who want to try the headset.
3. iPad or Desktop User (optional)
Should move around the scene during the demo to showcase cross-device interaction. If using an iPad, this person can also demonstrate AR mode when showing tools.
Demo flow and key features
Here’s a simple, high-impact sequence we recommend:
1. Open the same Campfire project on all devices
- Everyone appears together, and can move independently around the model.
- Unlike 2D screen sharing, each user can see and control their own view.
- Headset users appear as floating heads, while screen users appear as floating rectangles.
2. Use follow mode on the main PC
- Have the main presenter follow the headset user to see exactly what they’re seeing.
- Great for highlighting sightlines, gaps, or specific design details.
3. Use the laser pointer
- All users can use the laser pointer to indicate exactly what they’re talking about.
- The PC user’s laser appears in 3D space for the headset user, so someone at a desk can easily guide a remote headset user to a specific spot — it’s simple, but very powerful.
4. Add annotations
- Comment, sketch, and measurement annotations can be attached directly to the model, making Campfire an archive of issues or decisions captured during or after a meeting.
- Each annotations has a unique link that can be used for sharing with others or for referencing Campfire in your existing tools or processes.
5. Demonstrate presenter tools
- In Campfire, the Presenter has access to a wider set of tools for explaining concepts.
- Have the headset user use the presenter tools to explode, grab, and slice the model.
- Because the scene is interactive, you can explore models dynamically as a conversation unfolds — no need to prep multiple versions or static views.
Demo tips
Pick a relevant model
- If you don’t have security clearance to add your own CAD data yet, choose a representative model or use your phone to scan a real product.
- You can also use the sample projects provided in the “Learn” tab.
Keep it interactive
- Let others join the project, ask questions, and explore different views.
Keep it focused
- You don’t need to show everything — just enough to spark curiosity and conversation.
Reach out
- Of course, you can always reach out to the Campfire team if you’d like help preparing to demo Campfire internally. Just email sales@campfire.com with any questions or requests!
